Senior Year Highlights, 1982-1983

The overall impression of my high school senior year is that it was the busiest and most thrilling time of my entire life. Definitely better than my college experience, which I botched.

I had a full class schedule (including Gifted Math), duties as co-editor of a national award-winning school newspaper, various extracurricular club activities, a steady girlfriend, a handful of best friends, and... oh yeah.... a nearly full-time after school job as cashier and stock boy at Food Park. Plus I mowed lawns, saw many movies and ballgames, went to church regularly...

So my journals from that year aren't as complete as from other times in my life, but listed below are some of the highlights gleaned from them.

As noted in my Blue Book (primary Senior Year diary), the locales frequented many times throughout the year included: Book Daddy's, cemetaries, Cy's Ice Cream Shoppe, Dairy Queen, DiMaggio's Pizza, the drive-in, Druther's, the malls and restaurants and theaters in Evansville and Mt. Vernon, Kincaid's, the library, Mt. Carmel, Pizza Hut, Wal-Mart, and the churches and homes of various friends....

August: school began with a full schedule, many car problems

September: Fall Fun Fest, Billy Joel's The Nylon Curtain released

October: teepeed & soaped houses, Shannon's party, hayrides, Homecoming

November: Pound's Hallow, "Applause" at Evansville's Executive Inn, drove Mark and Wilfred to St. Louis to see Billy Joel in concert, got accepted at EIU, new DiMaggio's opened

December: Communications Day at University of Evansville, Career Fair, Science/JETS club party, Greg's Christmas party

January: dropped Gifted Math because of my fall semester 'B' grade

February: Sweetheart banquet, M*A*S*H finale

March: Greg's M*A*S*H Bash, JETS trip to U of I, Spring break

April: Astronomy class trip to St. Louis, Journalism class trip to SIU, ran into big white dog while driving from Mt. Vernon to Fairfield, Journalism class trip to EIU, Science Club trip to Chicago

May: Senior class trip to King's Island, prom night, graduation
