Miscellaneous notes:
  • I keep adding photos to the Oct. 13 Walt Disney World post, so check it out again if interested. Aren’t those boys cute?

  • Benjamin has discovered that he loves computers. The other night, this 3 1/2 year old boy spent 4 1/2 hours playing games on it all by himself!

  • This week’s episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm where Larry’s wife leaves him (a reminder of recent events in Larry David’s real life) upset me at first, but now I think it’s really funny. Curb always seems to get off to a shaky start and then improve toward the end of its short seasons.

  • The Scrubs final season kickoff episode is tonight and commercials for it reveal that Colin Hay has returned, this time singing “Down Under”! I wonder if he taped this shortly before or after I saw him last month. [Update: Apparantly that was a commercial for the season and not just tonight's episode; Colin was nowhere to be found.]

  • Next Thursday, I will enter a hospital as a patient for the first time since the day I was born. I’m having an unusual growth removed from my upper inner thigh, and while they’re in the area they want to do a colonoscopy, which is a good idea considering all the cancer in my family’s medical history. I guess I’ve reached the age where it’s all downhill from here! Too bad working in the healthcare industry for 18 years hasn’t provided me with more insight about all this. I was clueless today when I went in for my preadmission tests.

  • Bazo’s chicken quesadillas used to be the best I ever had, but a long delayed return visit last night revealed that things have changed drastically for the worse. Obviously there has been some kind of management turnover, the prices went up, and those once great quesadillas are now a pale imitation of what they were before. What I got last night was a cold folded tortilla with about a half sprinkle of cheese in it. Extremely thin, and extremely lame… even the quesadillas at Taco Bell are better than this crap!

In case anybody cares, the surgery went okay. They gave me stuff that didn't quite knock me out, but it did totally wipe my memory of anything that happened between 2:30 and 4 pm that day. They removed my leg growth, and they also removed a polyp during my colonoscopy... and will run a biopsy on both. I got to take two days off work, and will have stitches removed one week later. I didn't eat for 1.5 days before the procedures... and couldn't even sip water from midnight until 4 pm... Surprisingly, this wasn't so bad. I'm still sore, but life continues and hopefully I will not have to do anything else like this ever again... I'm not a big fan of hospitals.

Oh, and I had or have signs of diverticulitis. Apparantly not a big deal, although it sounds scary in internet descriptions. I'll find out more on Thursday. My doctor talked to me right after the procedures, but I remember absolutely nothing about that conversation since I was still under the influence of something...
