Tonight, all of Walt Disney World's Pleasure Island nightclubs are closing permanently in a shortsighted, bone-headed move motivated yet again by out-of-touch corporate greed.

The greatest casualty is the Adventurers Club, my favorite of all Disney attractions. It's a special, truly unique wholesome respite for adults, sort of like a British gentlemen's club from the 1930's featuring comedy, music, magic, and surprises round many nooks and crannies and hidden rooms. I spent many enjoyable hours during visits there in the 1990's and even on my wedding night in 2003 -- see my blushing bride in the picture above.

We've journeyed to Orlando four times in the past three years and I know we'll go back again, but it will be with much less enthusiasm on my part....
