Palin in Comparison

- Louisville is experiencing heavy wind damage, supposedly cast our way from Ike. We have been without power most of the day, and they are saying it might take days to restore. Our yard, with the biggest trees on the block, had dozens of huge fallen limbs, one of which fell on the cable line which is now hanging down low across the road. Lovely.

- Schools are to be closed tomorrow, and I tried calling work to let them know I have to stay home. Unfortunately, we couldn't hear each other, so I ended up driving in just to log on and send everybody an e-mail saying I'm staying home. Ah, but they have backup power here at the office, so I might as well stay for a while and do some late night surfin'.

- I wanted to acknowledge the current political phenomenon going on without saying too much about it. The most fun I'm having is coming up with bad puns as news headlines... one of which appears above. Another good one would be "Palin Drone". Anyway...

- Last night's new season opening skit of Saturday Night Live, with Tina Fey as the Palin Drone and Amy Poehler (a veteran of Conan O'Brien's show) as Hillary Clinton was very funny, though the rest of the show sucked as usual. I wanted to post that skit here, but we can't access YouTube or any streaming media site from our workstations, so the best I can do for now is to post Pulitzer-prize winning editorial cartoonist Nick Anderson's most recent entry about her. Nick won that prize in 2005 when he still worked here in Louisville for the Courier-Journal!
