I hate shaving, but feel the need to maintain a semi-professional (or at least non-threatening) appearance most days. So weekends and vacations, especially when not much is happening, are usually my times to set aside the razor. Last night I sadly and very reluctantly removed a 10-day beard. That's the longest I've gone without shaving in this century. During my seven months of intentional unemployment circa 1999-2000, I grew a long and shaggy goatee which grew in colored mostly dark brown and red. These days, however, it's coming in mostly black and grey.... Face it, I'm old now. But surprisingly, I like it better this way. Makes me look more like an adult. If ever there was a case of arrested development in a middle aged man, that would be me. But if I still don't feel like an adult most days, it is cool to know that I can look like one if I need to.
